Amazon Video Prep

Catch preventable upload problems before you get to campaign setup. Check existing footage, prepare a corrected copy where appropriate, and see what still needs a creative review.

  • United States
  • United Kingdom
  • Canada

For Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display and product listing videos. The workflow keeps each placement’s rules separate and records the marketplace being checked.

  • Check the file. Review duration, dimensions, encoding, frame rate, audio and file size against the selected profile.
  • Prepare a useful export. Keep the original. Record corrections, and make cropping, excerpt selection or upscaling deliberate choices.
  • Review the message. Use timestamped frames and available transcripts to inspect the opening, text, safe zones, claims and local presentation.

A cleaner file is a better starting point.

The skill works with footage you already have. It doesn’t generate new shots or guarantee Amazon approval. Claims, language, safe zones and the final edit still need an evidence-based review.

Put it to work

Give your assistant the workflow.
Then give it the footage.

A skill is a small package of instructions and supporting files. Use this one in Claude Code, Codex, or another compatible assistant that can load the package and run its scripts.

  1. Get the skill

Open the repository setup guide and add the complete Amazon Video Prep folder to your assistant.

  2. Choose the job

Supply the footage and select US, UK or Canada, plus Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display or listing video. Include the intended product and any transcript you have.

  3. Review the result

Read the report, inspect the exported video and resolve any open creative questions before you submit it to Amazon.

A request you can reuse

Start with this.

Use Amazon Video Prep to check this video for UK Sponsored Brands. Report any issues, export a corrected copy where appropriate, and review the opening, text, safe zones and claims. Keep the original.

Change “UK Sponsored Brands” to the marketplace and placement you need.

Setup details for Claude Code and Codex

The core workflow needs Python 3.10+, ffmpeg and ffprobe. Pillow is optional for annotated contact sheets. It uses no paid API or API key; your assistant’s normal usage costs may still apply.

Claude Code

Copy the complete skill folder to:

~/.claude/skills/amazon-video-prep

Invoke it with /amazon-video-prep.

Codex

Copy the complete skill folder to:

~/.agents/skills/amazon-video-prep

Invoke it with $amazon-video-prep.

Other hosts have their own import or installation flow. A GitHub link alone doesn’t enable script execution. The setup guide has the current instructions.

Before you start

A few practical questions.

Is the skill free?

Yes. The package is public on GitHub under an MIT license, with no email signup. The assistant or computing environment you choose may have its own costs.

Does this website process my video?

No. This page gives you the skill and setup instructions. Your video is handled in the assistant or computing environment you choose, under that provider’s settings and policies.

What does the marketplace selection change?

The report’s destination store, source links and localization review. UK and Canadian profiles include local English, product-page relevance, units and currency where relevant. French or bilingual Canadian creative needs placement-specific language review.

Does a passing file check mean Amazon will accept it?

Amazon makes the moderation decision. The workflow records uncertain or conflicting requirements and keeps creative review separate from an approval claim. Check the current upload requirements and watch the final video before submitting it.
