Which of your products lose money on ads?
Every product has its own break-even ACoS. Add your catalog to see each product’s line and the most a click can cost. Add today’s ACoS and ad sales to see what each one makes or loses on ads every month.

Step 1
Your products
One row per product. Price, fees and landed cost are all you need for the break-even line. The last three columns are optional, and they turn the check into a diagnosis.
These are example products, so you can see how it works.
Where do I find these numbers?
- Price
- Your current selling price per unit, before tax.
- Amazon fees
- Referral fee plus FBA fulfillment fee, per unit. Look up one product in Amazon’s Revenue Calculator, or pull the whole catalog from the Fee Preview report in Seller Central (Reports, then Fulfillment).
- Landed cost
- What one unit costs you to get into Amazon’s warehouse: product, freight, duties and prep. Add storage and returns if you want a stricter line.
- Conversion rate
- Ad orders ÷ ad clicks for the product. It’s in Campaign Manager, or the Sponsored Products Advertised Product report.
- ACoS today
- The product’s ACoS over the last 30 days, from the same report.
- Ad sales / month
- The product’s ad-attributed sales over the last 30 days, from the same report.

Columns in this order: product, price, Amazon fees, landed cost, then (optional) conversion rate, ACoS today, ad sales per month. A header row is fine; it’s skipped.
Tip: you can also paste a block of cells straight into any box, the way you would in a spreadsheet.
Step 2
What your ads can cost
Want this checked against your real campaign data? I’ll review one Search Term Report and show you where spend crosses each product’s line, free.

Products with ACoS today are listed first, biggest monthly loss at the top.
Next: When to Negate uses these products to check whether a search term is worth more clicks, and the Placement Bid Calculator uses their break-even ACoS to set placement adjustments.
How it’s calculated
Four lines, no black box.
The same math as the spreadsheet, so you can check any number by hand.
Break-even ACoS
(Price − Amazon fees − landed cost) ÷ price. Past this line, every ad-driven sale loses money.
Target ACoS
Break-even minus the margin you want to keep after ads. This is what bids should aim for.
Max CPC
Price × target ACoS × conversion rate. The most a click can cost and still hit your target.
Ad profit per month
Ad sales × (break-even ACoS − ACoS today). What ad-driven sales leave you after product, fees and ad cost. It leaves out storage, returns and overhead, and any organic sales the ads help create.
